Business Card Holders

Just before Christmas time, I had a couple of requests for business card holders that were similar to pieces I've made in the past. Although none of the requestees had any specific color ideas, I thought I would try out some different variations to see what came of those trials. In the end, a couple of the pieces were purchased as gifts, but the one common question that came at pick up was, "How exactly do these work?"

Since I have a new batch of these on hand, I thought it would be helpful to visually illustrate the way business cards sit in the holders and how truly functional and fun they are to give as gifts.

As can be observed in the photo above, the business cards sit nicely on one side of the flower in the leaf (or leaves, as is the case for some of the holders) that have been attached. While each variety will hold a slightly different amount and will sit a bit differently (which is, of course, the beauty of handmade objects), they will all beautifully adorn the intended users' desk, table or other flat surface.
In addition to the flower business card holders, I've been experimenting with critters and using their tongues as the holder portion of the sculptures.

The great thing about any of these holders is that they look great as simple, small sculptural elements even if they aren't used as a functional piece. So, whether you've fallen in love with a particular item simply for its color or whimsy, or you actually have a need for a card holder on your desk, there are several pieces coming that will fit the bill.

Don't forget, studio tours are coming at the end of April too! I look forward to seeing you then.
